Nightclubs burned down in Cap d´Agde

One of Europe's most famous nudist colonies has become the subject of
an unusual investigation by French detectives after the destruction
of three nightclubs in fires blamed on naturist "hardliners."

The normally peaceful Cap d'Agde, a magnet for nudists in the south
of France, has been plunged into anxiety as investigators
suspect "fundamentalist" nudists of harboring a grudge against the
échangistes, or swingers, who are drawn to the town by the promise of
sex.

A so-called boîte échangiste — or wife-swapping club — called
Glamour, where couples engage in group sex, was the first to be
destroyed in April. The next day, the Palme Ré, another orgy venue,
also went up in flames. In September, the Tantra club and Zen, its
neighboring bar, were leveled in blazes.

No one was hurt but the fires have shocked a community whose crime
rate has been dominated until now by cases of exhibitionism.

Tensions have risen between the naturists, who believe that nudity is
a healthy choice of lifestyle and nothing to do with sex, and the
échangistes, who are attracted to nudist camps by the prospect of
multiple partners.

Report from Erik

Hi
I have been to Cap d Agde for two weeks, the first two in sept. I noticed that this is not a naturist resort. About 70 % were dressed in daytime and 99% in the evenings. Some were also dressed on the naturist beach.
The beach was wonderful but the restaurants and the buildings was very bad. Old and dirty place.
I will never go back again. I hope to find a real naturist place
Thanks for your site
regards from
Erik

Is the Cap still alive in October??

We always visit Cap at end of October (as well as other times) and have found the weather can be a mixture between warm and wet, NOT HOT & NOT COLD.
We have sun bathed in the past on the good day's and on the not so good day's we go bike riding around the numerous trails.

The only bars open on the naturist quarter is La Palmarie and the bar opposite (the name esapes me) also the Saunas are open all year.

In Cap during the low season it is quiet, but can still be fun.

Regards

Our trip report

We find it really helpful to read other people's experiences of Capd' Agde so have decided to reveal some of ours. We're a marriedcouple who are not swingers but like to have a lot of fun and weenjoy the buzz of the beach and nightlife including dressing up andfun in the clubs. This was our 3rd stay and our general impression is there are a lotmore french locals & holidaymakers during early July which changesthe feel of the whole resort. Last year in June and Sept we felt wewere among a more cosmopolitan mix which suited us a little betterthough we still had a great time.Nightlife: Noticeably more local french people come in and this isnot as good as it sounds. It's like it's their regular weekend partyplace and they were in the majority and were a lot more 'hardcore' intheir dress and behaviour than we found last year. We saw someseriously hard looking people who I wouldn't like to meet in adarkened street but we never saw any trouble - maybe because thepolice presence was a lot more too. Melrose seems to be a placewhere couples go to 'hook up' with other couples and we saw thathappen lots of times. Other couples like us were careful to avoidtoo much eye contact or friendly overtures in case it ismisinterpreted.Single Men: Lots of single french men but I wouln't hold out muchhope for single men holidaymakers. Single men were in Tantra andslipped in all over the place BUT we are certain that the single menwho were in the clubs like Melrose, Jules and Tantra were locals whoare probably friends of the doorman/bar staff/security etc. I thinkit would give false hope to imply that the average single maleholidaymaker would gain access to any of the couples only bars orclubs or playrooms. In my opinion it ain't gonna happen.Accommodation: we like the inside apartments in Heliopolis where youcan people watch from your balcony. We don't like the idea of theapartments in Port Nature because the walkway means your balcony isnot private. The villas in Port Nature are nice but mostly no view. We've also stayed at Hotel Eve and would do again but only if nowhereelse was available because it is very quiet and out of the way andbasic with no ambience.Beach: Before the adult beach you can just lie and relax. Furtherup in the adult section you just can't relax. It was very active whenwe were there, starting from around 5.00 onwards. We saw all sortsall over the place - swapping, fxxking, wxnking, oral, lots offingering to orgasm. There were single men but this time they didn'tseem to plonk themselves two feet in front of you quite as often somaybe they've cottoned on that couples don't like it. In fact therewas a lot more action between couples - probably because there wasn'tso much intimidating closeness and open wxnking by single men.Playrooms: Very active but if you don't want to play with otherpeople you really have to be careful to keep your hands and eyes toyourself or you could be drawn in. One second of eye contact and youhave an invitation so keep eyes down and hands on each other if youdon't want to get involved in group sex. Basically, we tried to getinto each other in the playroom but it's too distracting worryingabout being felt up by the person next to you so although itsbizzarly fascinating we don't really find it a turn on. We did havefun in an empty playroom which was a thrilling memory to take home.Best nightlife: Melrose - standing only, Eros - great for couplesand dancing, Tantra and probably Glamour now its re-opened (we leftthe day it opened). Jules is fine but has a tiny smoking room whichwas a joke so we didn't bother this time though liked it last year.Smoking: Whoever said 5% of people smoked was having a laugh. Wesmoke and were definitely in the majority there. I would say morelike 85% of people smoked. There is a smoking area with relaxinglounge seating in Tantra and Eros and you can smoke in Melrose too,so no problems for smokers. One very crowded night in Tantra peoplewere smoking throughout the whole club, just as normal and no oneseemed to mind. Other nights it seemed to be mainly in the smokinglounge - it must depend on whose there and how busy it is.Clothes: Daytime lots of people wore clothes to a degree - sarongs, shorts etc. The further from the beach the less naked people are.Nighttime you can wear anything - as wild as you like if you feelcomfortable with it. The most extraordinary outfit we saw was on atranvestite who had gone for a space age number made from bathroomfittings - yes really - an assortment of chrome soap dishes, racksand shower hoses for the corset and god knows what else - it lookedamazing and attracted a lot of attention.Shaving & body jewellery: More hair this year - not quite as manycompletely waxed / shaved pubes or extreme piercings in evidence aslast year though they wouldn't get a second glance. I just think thetide is turning and the natural look is coming back in fashion, evenfor ladies.Any questions feel free to ask.Dee (female half)

Back from Cap

Just got back from 12 days at Cap and here are a fewimpressions. Most places seem about 10% more expensive than last year. Then there is the fall in the pound against the Euro, so itscertainly not a cheap holiday. Many more people seem to be fully dressed during the day,I'd suggest less than 40% round village are nude.Glamour looks to be still about a month away fromcompletion. We were amazed at the amount of un-safe sex we saw in theclubs, made us very uneasy!!Le Juls now charges 20E per couple but you getcouple of free drinks, saw loads of sex in the disco area as the backrooms were full. The sauna club is really plush but only got busyFri and Sat evenings we were told, maybe thats because we had greatweather during our stay. Wondered why they did not reduce enrance fee35E for couples during the day to attract more people.L'extasia is really worth a trip, esp. if youhave a car, don't know how much taxi would be.Get a flyer for De Mains, small club with gooddisco feel, get two free drinks with flyer and free entry for couples. We enjoyed this club, tho lots of other people did not like it.Not as much playing on the beach as previous years, tho loads of single man, mostly old and ugly. Having said that, nonebothered us. But against that we know some women said that theyounger, good looking single men were too shy to approach the women.

Cafe Eden Heliopolis Centre

On our last 2 visits we have gone in the Cafe Eden in the Heliopoliscentre, just down the way from Ghymnos Restaurant in the direction ofthe 1664 Bar.It is well decorated, nicely furnished to a high quality, moodysubtle lighting, it has a romantic and sensual feel about the place. The Barman is friendly and makes a mean cocktail, the music is good, there are very nice seating areas, large comfy sofas and cushions andpartially see-through drapes that add a hint of secretiveness to theplace.A dance floor again subtly lit, a wide raised platform with a polefor dancing. The place seems ideal for sexy evening with someone special, a gooddrink, a good dance, a kiss and cuddle and maybe more !!!!!!Just one small problem..........There's never anyone in there !We have been in early evening for aperitifs, mid evening beforedinner, after dinner and gone midnight, but we've never seen morethan half a dozen people in there. The place looks great for a fun night out, so does anyone know what'sup with it?
